As you drive north from Cambria the highway crosses a level headlandbounded by the sea and the coastal range of hills. There comes a certain point just before the town of Gorda where the road climbs up from the sea and starts to follow the cliffs to the north.
Looking up the coast into a misty sunset we can see up to the point at Limekiln. When I was here the road at Gorda was closed due to a landslide sparing me a white knuckled ride along the cliffs of southern Big Sur. This rugged and beautiful area has a world wide reputation and it is well deserved!
